The Friends of Community Radio in the Blue Mountains is an informal group of people from all sections of the local community who would like to see public broadcasting become a vital part of our local scene.

Our objectives

We are committed to the primary concepts of accessibility, transparency, accountability and consultation.  We are dedicated to the principles of participatory democracy in community organizations.  We believe that community media have a crucial role in the social, cultural and economic interests of the community.  In short, we wish to recover the passion and vision that characterised the establishment of community radio in the Blue Mountains.

Our core activity is to promote the importance of community participation in broadcasting, discuss the future of local community radio and related media and provide an opportunity for community input in planning for change.

Vintage Radio

We believe that our Blue Mountains community has as much right as other communities to community broadcasting that is grounded in local democracy.

Our activities

Our core activity is to promote the importance of community participation in broadcasting, discuss the future of local community radio and related media and provide an opportunity for community input in planning for change.

Our activities are based on collective participation of people, individually and as a community, who act together to create change.

Through the full participation of the community, community radio can become inclusive and more vibrant, creative and enterprising.
